Hello friends. We wanted to share a design we recently have been involved in for one of our clients. They had a little used room between their dining room and kitchen for which they wanted to find a purpose. They shared that they would like to use this area as a place for adults to hang out, possibly have a cocktail and/or play a musical instrument. They have several instruments and thought they would hang them on the wall like a piece of art. The fireplace had recently been remodeled by the previous owners, and although it was not something they loved, they weren’t ready to make a major change there, but did want to modify the side cabinets.
Because we were going a little swanky, we found this cabinet on Pinterest and thought it would be the perfect inspiration for updating this area.
We thought adding doors to the top and integrating the cross pattern would be fun. We also suggested adding antiqued glass on the door for a little extra glamour.
The family was unhappy with their current furniture and the overall layout with the exception of a repurposed cabinet that they were using as a bar. We were able to re-use that piece and came up with a plan that incorporated four chairs centered in the room instead of the sofa/chair combination that was there. We also emphasized the music wall and added a new, larger rug. We chose a new light fixture, a small round ottoman and some side tables. This is the sample of what we came up with.
They requested a few tweaks and we were off. There was also a hiccup, the chairs on the board were no longer available to buy. While everyone was initially sad about this, happily we found some even cooler, swivel chairs that they ended up buying.
We look forward to showing you what the updated space ends up looking like!
Until next time,
